I was reading through the posts everyone has written, and I think that censoring your intake of information has it.s good and bad side; While it may be good to isolate yourself from all of the hurt in the world, to make your mind less cluttered and to feel a sense of balance in your emotions. That being said, I think that by removing all these events that happen in the world completly, is a little saddening. I know the news in its randomness can be harsh to deal with, but it.s definatly your most reliable source for the more precise information, yahoo, and aol sites tend to take their stories from outside sourses, and often are delayed in their headlines.
I think that we need to be able to understand that the things that are going on in the world, however bad they may seem, do deserve to be remembered, deserve to have people aware of the situations comming there to help change these things. I think that only by being informed of the disasters in the world can we be knowledgable enough to do something from stopping them from repeating.

Actually, AOL & Yahoo have a variety of news sources to choose from (external, of course), or you can choose a number of different sources to see how the reporting compares. I've never found the news I get to be behind the news everyone else is getting via other sources. Also, on AOL you can add any feed you want, so you are virtually unlimited in the news you import to your page, as long as the news site has an RSS feed.

Another page I used to use is MyWay.com, but it's not set up for Canadians, so I stopped using it when I moved here. Not too bad for the U.S., though.

Hi Danielle, I cannot personally see any advantages to the regular media newspapers and tv or radio news at all apart from maybe the speed that you mention (and then it doesn't usually matter if you hear about a disaster a bit after it has happened, unless you are in a position to do something to help directly). Where is the balance? Where is all the good news? All I see and have seen in papers and on the news (if I ever glimpse them) is the disempowering propaganda of the powers that be, or the misdirection of reality game shows and soap operas.

I admit it does put me a little out of touch and maybe I should get some source of balanced news input such as the idea BD has used there, but in most cases there is little if any direct action I can take to help those suffering from here as far as I can see, so why should I concern myself with such things?

Much better I feel to concentrate on awakening and empowering without all the distractions and misdirections first then we will be able to help other more.

Hi Danielle,

You bring up a good point. I think that as we awaken and activate our bodies we become much more sensitive, at least I have.  Most of the time I sit and watch news shows or pick up the paper I feel literally bombarded with negativity, in the words and in the pictures. I never used to feel this way and sitting down with my coffee and paper was the only way I could start the day.

I asked my mom to be my designated news person as she doesn't have this problem and enjoys all of her news programs and paper. Actually it is funny sometimes some of the stuff that she tells me .. but that's another story.

I don't think that I am turning my back on what is going on out there, I have a micr-cosm of the world right in my house everyday, I run a daycare with 12 little ones. I just feel that taking all of the news in  drains my energy and I would much rather use my energy to nurture myself and those who come into my life. I barely have the energy for that!! just kidding

It isn't just the news that does this either, I have found myself becoming very sensitive to certain people who just tend to suck the energy right out of me. I Have learned to set up protection and boundaries so that I am not drained and they are able to get what they need at  the same time.

(one this note Sorry Bryan for hijacking your topic >.<)

I guess I.m one of those who bleeding hearts then...i feel there is always a way to aid, but wether it be through sending out positive energy through yourself, prayer for the people who went through whatever horricfic event, or even volunteering, the red cross, donating a small amount to a relief fund. I think there is always a way to inflict some good on the world, you just have to look deeper to see how some times.

I used to be like that when I growing up, again I.m pretty empathic, I could walk into a room and if someone was upset I would be upset, without any clue why...now it seems like instead of it draining me however it seems to work the opposite for me, the more I help the better I feel, the more my own personal energies begin to feel balanced in all the chaos of it all. I give my energy out freely, when I.m helping people because I can get it back from another source. I dont really know if that makes much sense to anyone else but my mother and me.

Yes, this is true but I do have a rather busy lifestyle at the moment (which I am working on changing) which is mostly work and a bit of family. I have difficulty even fitting in the Great Invocation (in fact I'm quite pleased with myself for making the time to do that) I'm sure as things progress time will become available for me to help such worthy purposes.

Love and Light

I know this question was addressed to Simon, but it sounds like a great idea to me!
