I read this book 'The Four Agreements' by Miguel Ruiz a few years back.  It is based on the Toltec wisdom.  Recently, one of the agreements has kept coming up as being a useful in staying gounded and focused:  Don't take anything personally.
It occured to me then tha tI couldn't remember what the other 3 were so I pulled the book off of the shelf and took another look and I thaought that these agreements might be worth mentioning on the site.  so here goes:

1.  Be impecible with your word: Speak with integrity. Say what you only mean.  Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others.  use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2.  Don't take anything personally. Nothing others do is because of you.  What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream.  When you are  immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.

3.  Don't make assumptions.  Find the courage to ask questions and express what you really want.  Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama.  With just this one agreement you can literally transform your life.

4.  Always do your best.  Your best is going to change from moment to moment, it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick.  Under any circumstance , simply do your best, and you will avoid self judgement, self abuse and regret.

Great book

And while I was at the book shelf I cam across a couple othe books that are (I thought anywayy) pretty good.  'The Isiah affect' by Michael Braden.  Among many other points one of the main pieces I like about this book was the idea of the end of the Mayan calandar does not necessarily mean doom and gloom the end of the world.  The author goes on to talk about many missing pieces from the bible that were taken out by the Nicean Council that were thought to be redundant and too mystical which were in actuallity important parts in explaining how the world works.

Two other books worth mention are "The real Jesus" and "Excavating Jesus" for the doubting Thomas in all of us.

Yes. There's a lot of wisdom packed into those four "little" topics.
